The Kai straw has a lot of technology sown inside the protective silicon walls. The battery and Bluetooth keep it going and keep it synced to your phone, The liquid sensor tracks all the way through the straw, and is able to distinguish water from other liquids. Once the liquid has passed as water, the straw sends the data to your phone.
